Cookie Policy
Contos Secretos does not use third-party analytics or social media trackers. Everywhere you read — catalog, story, library, purchase — cookies are strictly necessary for the website to work and, under the LGPD (Art. 7, IX), do not require explicit consent. We list them here anyway, so you know exactly what is going on.
There is one exception, described below: the /en/publish page, where we invite new voices to write with us, runs a paid Google Ads campaign and loads Google's conversion tag. No other page on the website loads this tag — and even it does not store anything unless you accept. It is opt-in: until you respond to the cookie notice, or if you respond “essential only,” it stays blocked.
Your choice
You have not responded to the cookie notice yet. Until you do, only essential cookies apply — Google Ads stays blocked.
Applies to this browser and is remembered for 6 months. After that, we ask again.
Public website cookies
contos_age_ok10 yearsRemembers that you confirmed you are 18 or older — so the notice doesn't show up every time.
contos_preview_ok90 daysRemembers that you unlocked the free first chapter. It does not track which stories you read — only that you unlocked at least one.
reader_session30 daysKeeps you signed in to My Library after the magic link. It stores only your encrypted email in a JWT — nothing else.
contos_consent6 monthsStores your answer to the cookie notice — whether you accepted the campaign cookies or asked for essential ones only. Without it we would ask on every visit, and the campaign cookies would stay blocked forever.
Admin panel cookies
admin_sessionSession (until logout)The publisher's session in the /admin panel. Exists only for administrative accounts.
Campaign cookies — only on the /en/publish page
_gcl_au90 daysSet by Google Ads to link the ad click to the submitted application — that is how the campaign knows it was worth it. It only exists if you accept in the cookie notice, and it does not follow you through the rest of the website or the stories.
_gcl_aw90 daysOnly appears if you accepted the campaign cookies AND arrived by clicking an ad (the link carries a click identifier). It stores that identifier to attribute the conversion to the right campaign.
What we DO NOT use
- ❌ Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, TikTok Pixel, or similar
- ❌ Any advertising cookie on reading pages — catalog, story, series, character, library, and checkout
- ❌ Social media cookies (share buttons, etc.)
- ❌ Browser fingerprinting
- ❌ Selling personal data
- ❌ Sending Google anything about what you read, bought, or talked about with the characters
The Google Ads tag on /en/publish sees only that page: that someone arrived there through an ad and applied. It does not follow you through the rest of the website.
What happens when you decline
We use Google's Consent Mode v2. In practice: before any acceptance, the tag on /en/publish already starts switched off — it sets no cookies and does not receive the ad click identifier. Google learns only that there was a visit and, if you apply, that there was an application — with nothing that identifies you, anonymously and in aggregate. If you choose “essential only,” it stays that way forever; if you accept, only then do the cookies above come into existence.
You can change your mind at any time, in the Your choice section at the top of this page — declining is as easy as accepting, and it takes effect immediately. If you prefer, you can also simply never visit /en/publish — the rest of the website never loads the tag — or turn off ad personalization directly in your Google account, at myadcenter.google.com, or block third-party cookies in your browser. In any of these cases the page keeps working normally and your application arrives just the same.
How to remove them
At any time, clear the website's cookies in your browser (Chrome: Settings → Privacy → Cookies; Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data). The website keeps working — you will just see the age notice again and need to sign in to your library again.
